And boy, oh boy will it ever be lovely weather. I can remember some years being so cold it felt like my jeans were literally frozen to my legs. Watching the parade and fireworks while wiping the ever-constant runny noses of my children because of the intense cold. And I remember snow, snow and more snow on the ground.
But this year, it seems we get a little added bonus for Christmas by the Lake. A treat, if you will, as temps are predicted to be in the mid-40s.
Hip, Hip, Hooray!!!
You can expect so many of the same fabulous activities as in years past. S’mores, horse drawn carriage rides, Santa’s house in City Park, a craft show, they’ll crown the Prince and Princess, strolling Dickens characters, Christmas Karaoke, a matinee at Lake Theatre and so much more!!!
And then, of course, the lighted Christmas parade followed by fireworks over the frozen (well, not so much with the frozen part this year) lake!
So what’s new? Well, as you all have probably heard, our beloved Christmas geese have left their Earthly home to fly high into the afterlife. It was a sad, sad day as they were such a big part of the parade each year. But, just as with anything else, life goes on… and so must the show. So this year, instead of geese we will have…..
Christmas goats! I’m so excited, because seriously, goats are cute and fluffy and bouncy and seriously the coolest little animal. I just want to squeeze them!
I won’t… of course… because that would be kind of creepy…
Anywho… another new addition is the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree contest. There will be THREE trees set up on Friday next to Santa’s house. Instructions will be available on voting procedure, as votes can only be cast on Saturday. A winner will be drawn after the fireworks on Saturday night and they will receive a FREE Christmas Tree from Fischer Tree Farm.
On Sunday, those of you with thick skin and nerves of steel might consider participating in the Polar Plunge! It’s definitely not for the faint of heart, but the proceeds do go to a great cause! So suck it up, buttercup, and go jump in the Lake!!!
Also on Sunday is the Treasure Hunt for children 12 and under at the Lakeview Room starting at 1pm.
There you have it, folks. Another great weekend of activities at the Lake for your enjoyment! Be sure to grab a cup of coffee, stroll through Main Street and enjoy the gorgeous gift of favorable weather. It’s the perfect kick-off to what is sure to be a fabulous Holiday Season.
See you at the Lake!
