I’m not sure where this week went. All I remember is sitting down to my computer on Monday morning, wishing it was Friday.
So, maybe the whole thing was simply a blip of time and my wish came true?
As the dog days of summer have fallen upon us, it’s hard to believe school is just around the corner. This week, the incredible administrative staff and the school board announced their plans for the upcoming year.
I cannot imagine the tremendous burden of weight felt by these decision-makers, knowing whatever they choose will create backlash. In the end, they have our children’s best interest at heart, and I’m certain the entire staff will do everything in their power to ensure the safety and health of our kiddos during the upcoming year.
The good thing about life is that we all have options. If you don’t feel comfortable sending your kids to school, you can choose to do online learning, or enroll them in a homeschool program. Regardless of your choice, it is just that – yours. Just as other mothers have choices for their family that are theirs.
The moral of this story is to be kind. We’ve somehow morphed into a society where it seems to be a socially acceptable thing to go online and bash others. Well, I can assure you, it is not. Not now. Not ever.
**This has been your weekly PSA reminding you to BE KIND**
Okay, so back to fun things at the Lake.
As we slide into the weekend, you don’t want to miss out on a few super-fun activities coming your way! Central Gardens kicks off the fun on Friday morning with Fresh on Fridays. Be sure to head back to the Gardens on Sunday when they have their Picnics and Performances. This week is a special treat as they have booked Opera Singers!!
Food Truck Friday is back in action again tonight, this time parking up by the Fire Museum. Stop up for some Rings ‘N Things, or grilled sweet corn from the Evening Lions. Bee Bee’s Seafood will also be on hand for those wanting to satisfy that coastal craving with some delicious seafood eats! And while you’re there, check out the Fire Museum. If you haven’t been inside before, it’ll knock your socks off. It’s one of the coolest places we have in town!
Saturday night, the Surf Ballroom will be hosting national touring southern rock group Drop Dead Dangerous for a livestream event. Be sure to hop on to the Surf Ballroom Facebook Page to catch the show, and maybe throw a few bucks into the virtual tip jar! All proceeds collected will go to the Surf Ballroom.
The weather looks to be favorable, making for endless opportunities to make memories at the Lake. Enjoy these last few weeks of quiet before the hustle and bustle of school begins. Take some time for yourself, enjoy a little staycation right here in our slice of paradise.
Have a wonderful weekend, Clear Lakers!
