It’s been a bit of a whirlwind week here at the Lake. And I mean that literally. This feel good Friday post is swirling with awesomeness.

While teased with a bit of warm weather and calm winds earlier this month, we have officially entered that phase of spring where you need to put a few rocks in your shoes, so you don’t blow away.

I suppose it just makes us all that much more thankful when Summer does arrive with all her loveliness and warmth.

Regardless of the chilly temperatures, my Facebook feed has recently been flooded with photos and accounts of High School track meets and Soccer matches. It’s awesome seeing these kids be able to participate in the things they love again. After last year, I bet it feels pretty good to be back at it!

In other heartwarming news across the region, there has been a bit of a buzz in the air since the Surf Ballroom announced their upcoming lineup of shows.

Shows, people.

Live music – on a stage. I can hardly believe it.

To check out their full lineup, and to purchase tickets, check out their website at www.surfballroom.com Also, do realize that some or most of these shows will have less ticket sales to control the number of people in the facility at one time. So don’t delay. If you want to go, I suggest you get online and get your tickets today!

And then, as if my heart could even take more, the Surf posted the most adorable video on their Facebook page. In case you missed it, the video showed Paul and Emily Pike, who had met here at the Surf exactly 65 years ago, dancing, once again, across the historic hardwood floor.

It was beautiful.

And, as the title of this blog post promised, I have the MOST FUN opportunity for you guys!

The Chamber is looking for volunteers to fill our weekend hours at the Visitor Center (which is the entrance of the Chamber office). From Memorial Day to Labor Day, as weekend foot traffic increases, so does the need for someone to answer questions and point people in the right direction.

Join Our Team Call to Action

If you LOVE Clear Lake and ENJOY helping people, this is the perfect opportunity to give back to our wonderful community! The best part is you can volunteer for whatever works best for you. The hours needed are Saturday’s from 10am to 4pm and Sunday from 1pm to 4pm. Of course, to make you feel more comfortable, you are more than welcome to stop into the Chamber office the week prior to your volunteer time and get a crash course in “Visitor Center 101.”

Plus, there will be an extensive volunteer guide left at the front desk for you to assist with frequently asked questions and such.

The official ‘position summary’ is: as a tourism industry liaison, this position is responsible for greeting visitors to the visitor center and providing accurate information on the local and regional tourism product, assisting with wayfinding, hotel, attractions, event and seasonal information.

If you are interested in applying, complete this form. Applications will be accepted until positions are filled.

We appreciate your commitment to making Clear Lake such a fantastic place to live, work and play.
